Creating Your Outdoor Space
Your boat, outdoor patio, and deck are all examples of an extension of your home. It is important to make the most of these spaces because this is where you unwind and connect with nature.
Here are a few key things to keep in mind with your outdoor areas:
Boundaries
Outline your space. You can use a variety of objects to indicate the boundaries. Some of our favorite markers to use include flower pots, shrubs, and large stones (or bricks).
Resources
How much do you anticipate spending? Execution strategy may depend on the amount of time, money, and energy you would like to spend. People usually spend a little more than the budget when planning for something like this, whether it be time or money (sometimes both).
First, you must take inventory of what you have. Throw out or neatly archive the items you do not need. Clearing out your space and items is essential to make more room for better energy.
Secondly, take note of the key pieces that are important to you. A few examples include, but are not limited to: Statues, a Fountain, Fire Pit, Dining Table, etc.
Practicality
Make your space inviting by installing simple yet effective lighting. Solar lights are a great choice because they are low maintenance usually hold a nice glow. On the other hand, if you don’t get much sun, solar lights are probably not the best option. The biggest thing to take into consideration is having a light system that doesn’t take up too much energy and gives you the appropriate amount of brightness.
Design an easy entrance and create a cozy corner, or two. Who doesn’t love an inviting seat with a comfy pillow or blanket? No one that we’ve met yet! Mix and match your seating with a variety of chairs or add a couple of bean bags and large cushions.
How will you be using this space? Your style will most likely come from the intention of the place you are creating.
Here are a few of our favorite ways to spend time in outdoor spaces:
Dining and entertaining
Prayer and Meditation
As a Hobby Quarter
Start with your ‘why’ and work your style into the ‘how’. We always recommend starting your color story by choosing between beige or grey, then adding up to 2-3 more colors based on your taste.
Bringing it to Life
Plants bring energy and a certain quality to any area. Think about what types of vegetation you would be able to maintain in your outdoor space. Start small with a couple of plants that are meant for your environment. Mix and match from your favorite vegetables, fruits, succulents, and flowers. Taking care of your plants and watching them thrive may bring you more joy than you expect.
Having a reliable water source is important and will be the main contributor to the well-being of your herbage.
Surrounding critters can be a burden to deal with, but it doesn’t have to be! Take note of what animals your property is attracting and you will learn a lot about your ecosystem. The healthier you keep your land, the more likely it is that you will attract different types of animals. Whether you want to watch with joy or keep them away is entirely up to you.
