7 Easy Boat Snacks

Planning a day out on your boat can be tricky when it comes to packing the cooler or ‘snack bag’ - choosing between what will stay fresh during the day, how much you can fit into the cooler, and how big of a snack bag you’re willing to take.

For example, you won’t be able to pack popsicle sticks or frozen meals, but you can squeeze a few cheese sticks and sandwich meats in with your water bottles! Still, there’s no reason to let bland snacks take away your boating fun - instead, here’s 7 easy boat snacks for summer that will last you all day:

#1: Peanut Butter Protein Balls

A perfect choice (as long as you don’t have peanut allergies), simple peanut butter protein balls are quick snacks you can make the day before that will prevent you from ‘burning out’ while out on the water. Plus, they take up very little space in the cooler!

If you’re planning on making this easy summer boating snack, I highly recommend following this recipe here!

#2: Seasonal Fruit Cups

Another cooler add-in, seasonal fruit cups are great for summer as they are refreshing and easy to prep! Try using melons such as watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, or others that are not as sensitive to heat (like strawberries).

#3: Trail Mix

Trail mix is a go-to for boating trips! Not only is it nutritious, but you can get creative with it and make it delicious AND it doesn’t require any cooler space! My personal favorite is Smoky S’more Trail Mix from Hola Jalapeno

Still, you can always keep it traditional and make a simple chex mix with cereal, mini pretzels, rye chips, and a little bit of seasoning.

#4: Banana Chips

You can either make your own or buy it from your local shopping center, but banana chips (or rather, any dried fruit) is a great option when looking for summer boating snacks! Easy to store, easy to acquire, and delicious - they’re a staple when boating alone or with friends and family.

#5: Cheese and Meat Tray

If you’re spending the afternoon out on the boat and you have the cooler space, one of the most delicious summer boating snacks available is a classic meat and cheese tray! Of course, you can buy one pre-made or DIY it at home.

When creating your tray yourself, try and include a variety of cheese such as cheddar, colby jack, and mozzarella! And, if you have the space, include a few pickles, nuts, and even a few veggies.

#6: Sandwiches or Rolls

An all-day trip on the water might require a bit more than just a few veggies or chex mix, you might want to think about bringing along a few bite-size sandwiches or rolls. You can keep it as simple as PB&J or make mini cucumber sandwiches to keep cool during the summer heat.

If you’re going out with a bunch of people, bring the ingredients to make rolls along - you won’t have to worry about smashing the bread in storage and wraps can hold just as much as a traditional sandwich can.

#7: Veggie Bags

Veggie bags are quick, easy, and good for everyone! Since veggies stay fresh for longer than most fruits and provide a bit more nutrition, they’re great summer snack options. Easy veggie options include carrots, broccoli, tomatoes, and cucumbers.

And, when you pack it yourself rather than purchasing a veggie tray, you can store the bags in the narrow spaces in your cooler - like between drinks or other snacks.

Summertime Boating

There’s nothing quite like boating during the summer, the only downside is… the sun. While you can’t completely escape the heat, you can always enjoy your summer snacks in the shade with an awning made just for you!
